Data Storage - Call PBM IT Solutions at (888) 233-6471Q. Do all companies manage their own equipment in a data center? A. No. The management of IT and data center facilities are often outsourced to third party companies that specialize in the monitoring, maintenance and remediation of systems and facilities on a shared services basis. Data centers are the biggest challenges facing IT executives in the coming years. Where possible, use outside free air as an alternative to expensive air conditioning. Operating system virtualization is the use of software to allow a piece of hardware to run multiple operating system images at the same time. The usual goal of virtualization is to centralize administrative tasks while improving scalability and work loads. With fewer servers, you can spend less time on the manual tasks required for server maintenance. On the flip side, pooling many storage devices into a single virtual storage device, you can perform tasks such as backup, archiving and recovery more easily and more quickly. It’s also much faster to deploy a virtual machine than it is to deploy a new physical server. To qualify as a true enterprise solution, a storage management system must be able to scale across the entire enterprise. This means it must be able to handle multiple servers spread across wide geographical areas. The solution should further leverage technologies such as clustering and load balancing to support hundreds or even thousands of client computers. It also must support various network infrastructures and firewall configurations. The Cisco UCS Integrates Network, Compute, and Virtualization Resources into a Single Cohesive System. A green data center is a repository for the storage, management, and dissemination of data in which the mechanical, lighting, electrical and computer systems are designed for maximum energy efficiency and minimum environmental impact. A data storage system includes a disk drive array including a plurality of disk drives; a first storage processor for controlling the operation of the data storage system; a second storage processor forcontrolling the operation of the data storage system; a first arbiter for controlling communication of data from the first storage processor and the second storage processor to a first group of disk drives of the disk drive array; a second arbiter forcontrolling communication of data from the first storage processor and the second storage processor to a second group of disk drives of the disk drive array; and a third arbiter for controlling communication of data from the first storage processor andthe second storage processor to a third group of disk drives of the disk drive array. Selected data is redundantly stored on disk drives in the first group of disk drives, the second group of disk drives and the third group of disk drives such that, upon failure of the first arbiter, the selected data is available to the first storage processor and the second storage processor through the second and third arbiters. Nexus sets the stage for converged Fibre Channel and Ethernet networks. The Nexus products will allow companies to consolidate their separate server and storage networking infrastructures onto one unified network fabric. |
